I trained as a Graphic Designer in the seventies and worked in Publishing and Design Studios for twenty years before a “Tree Change” in the late nineties to Eastern Victoria. The Apple Mac has been replaced by agricultural and gardening equipment, my office no longer has four walls, I work surrounded by mountains and my activities are dictated by the ever changing environment – Life is never dull.

I started my artistic journey by producing commercial illustrations and corporate documents, which to be successful I believe is a combination of fulfilling the client’s brief and meeting strict deadlines. It has been struggle to relax my mind from these habits and allow myself to absorb the beauty of nature around me – from the almost symmetrical Sunflower to the contorted and twisted shapes of desert trees and shrubs. My artistic influences are constantly evolving, from the political and intellectual work of Ai Wei Wei to the fabulous expressionistic landscapes of John Wolseley. Currently my mantra is a quote from “Hugh Ramsay” – “The artist’s job is not to imitate nature but to use what he sees to construct a considered design”.

My work is often seen in local group and individual exhibitions in Eastern Victoria as well as being held in private collections.
